How To Upload Your Quiz To The Web:

For uploading your quiz document to the web, you're going to have to FTP your document.

This stands for File Transfer Protocol, and basically means you're uploading your file to your web site.

If you're unfamiliar with FTP, this page is an introduction to the subject, but should not be considered an in depth lesson because it is quite an involved subject, and if you're doing anything to do with the web you should know how to FTP since it's a fundamental.

Anyway, here's a tutorial on how I go about uploading my quiz document to the internet...

The first requirement is FTP software. I personally use software called CuteFTP. You can read more about it by clicking here.

You can also check the FTP software downloads available at download.com - by clicking here.

So for this example - I open up CuteFTP, and as you can see below the software allows me to choose which sites to connect to:

One of my main sites is my "home" site of AllportPublishing.com - so that's where I'll connect to in this case:

For connecting to my site via FTP I need to enter the username, password, host address, and a couple of other pieces of information - enough for the software to connect me.

So I do that, and then click upon the Connect button:

And now I'm connected.

The main elements of the screen to pay attention to are on the left - which is my home computer. And on the right - which is my web server.

I'm then able to copy documents from my home computer, directly to my web site, via the internet:

So I select the document on my computer I want to upload to my web site. It's the quiz document called QuizFileName.html that I've saved to the Windows Desktop.

What I also do (in the right hand side of the screen) is decide where on my web server I want to copy the document to:

What I then do is keep holding down my mouse button (left mouse button) so that the file remains selected, and drag the mouse into the right section of the screen - effectively copying that file to my web site:

The software then confirms whether this was what I wished to do:

I click on Yes, and the document is uploaded to my website, at the location I chose:

And since it's a small file, it's quickly done:

Since I uploaded the document to the equivalent address of:

www.AllportPublishing.com/QuizTest

I can confirm that the file was uploaded successfully by visiting that address in my browser:

So after successfully uploading your quiz document, I would recommend spending some time testing the quiz, to make sure it's all looking and working okay for your visitors.
