Hello
Everyone
Here's what I'm trying to do: I have 3 ecourses that I have redistribution
rights too and would like to offer them from my site using "check
boxes" and entering your name and email just once to receive
any or all ecourses selected via autoresponders.
My problem is I'm trying to teach myself HTML and can't seem to find
a good example to work from.
Does anyone here know of a script that I can use?
Thanks
Kennon
so
if you find out about something on this, please let me know.
I have wondered about doing something like this for a contest.
Is there an easy way to multi-subscribe people to lists for my
ezine and that of the others participating in a prize giveaway?
Kennon :)

You
can't do what you want (subscribe to multiple lists) from just HTML.
You will need some sort of script (PHP, Perl, etc) to handle the multiple
subscriptions.
Here's one (paid for) that I found via Google. I didn't do an extensive
search - I expect there are free scripts out there as well. As always,
its a case of finding the right words so Google gives you the results
you want ;)

Kennon
Thanks
Jason. Good info.
Kennon :)

Thanks
for the info Jason.
I was able to put together an HTML form for multiple subscriptions
from digging through the books again. And I know I need a CGI script
to do the multiple subscriptions. Just not sure how to go about writting
it yet.
If someone wants a copy of the html side, just email me and I'll give
you what I have so far.
Thanks again
Kennon
Roy,
please send it to me... I'd like to get people to opt-in on a
form for a free teleseminar and simultaneously add them to my
main subscriber base.
If I can have that, I will be really glad!
Kennon :)

Kennon
I'll send you what I have, but it'll need some kind of cgi script
to do the multiple subscriptions.
Kennon
Roy,
this should be interesting. Do we have any CGI experts
around here? I can't say I've done ANYthing with it before.
Kennon :)

You
may check out the link below. There are all kinds of scripts here
for managing forms, and many are free.
cgi.resourceindex.com (http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Form_Processing/)
RoyB
Thanks
Justin!
There seems to be some promising scripts at that link!
Thanks Again
RoyB
I
was givin a link to get a script like what I was looking for. I posted
the link over at "Free stuff you like on the web!"

Hope this will help some of you out.
Roy
P.s. It's FREE to!

Just
a genreral warning on this - I did this on my main domain using autoresponse
plus. Worked great but then all the addresses were spidered by spam
bots and I ended up with more spam subscribers then real ones. - be
careful.
RoyB
Thanks
George! I'll definately keep that in mind! Not sure what type of security
is in the script that I got linked too. Trying to talk to a programmer
about modifying it for my site.
Thanks for the Heads Up!!!

Glad
you appreciated the input... for what it's worth I ended up taking
down the page and directing the addresses to autoresponders that have
a double opt-in.
RoyB
The
autoresponder I was planning on using has the option of single or
double opt-in modes. I have it set for double to maybe even help with
the new spam laws I've been reading about.
Do you have any other tips or advice that would be of use. I new to
the business side of the internet and am trying to absorbe as much
as possible.
Thanks Again

George, is what you're saying simply because you were using that
particular autoresponder?

Actually
I think it was more due to the program. I think it was multisubscribe
something or another. Which is a great program but the bottom line
is that the subscription addresses are in the html and spam bots will
pick them up.
If you use scripts like this on thankyou pages the odds of that are
of course less - since hopefully your thankyou pages are not spidered
by robots.
Autoresponseplus is great - it had nothing to do with the autoresponder
software.
Kennon
Thanks
for explaining that, George. Now the next step then
would be to re-write the script to encode and protect the email
addresses as they are added so they cannot be gobbled by the
spam bots.
One of the products offered on my site at Instant Software Profits
(http://www.instant-software-profits.com)
is an email scrambler. Now surely these two technologies could
be combined. What do you think? Would that make it more
appealing?
Kennon :)

What
about using some of the email encryptors that I've seen floating around
the web that are supposed to hide your email address from web pages
so spiders don't get them. Do you think that would help keep your
addresses safer. Or they not as good as they say?
