I
thought it'd be interesting to post a new thread here. I saw that
people started discussing the ezine market, and how it's being hurt
by spam filters and legal issues.
I was thinking that one partial solution could be setting up a newsletter,
where the email just points to a web page that has the newsletter.

Yes,
Justin. Some do that. Others send out BOTH a link to the
web and the actual ezine in a seperate email.
Also, email marketing isn't dead...at least not yet. My small list
had nearly a 10% clickthru on several different promotions I did
very recently. Now I've just gotta get that list size built up and
generate more sales!

As
Kennon says, I don't think email marketing is dead either. Just going
through a rough spot :)
For my newsletter, I use the "send out two messages" method.
First I send out the newsletter, and then an hour later the announcement
message for the newsletter. I haven't had anyone complain about it,
and it definitely reachs more people than I would by just sending
out the newsletter.
Will email marketing ever die? I really don't know. Things aren't
looking the best at the moment, with the growing tide of spam making
it difficult for people to find the messages they want. I don't know
if things will ever improve - it would require some drastic action
by governments (all around the world) to combat it (ie: VERY harsh
penalties for repeated spamming), and I really can't see that happening.
But I think it will still be viable for a few more years yet.
Cheers,
Jason
