Hi IPTers,

What motivates you?

What motivates you to go to work and then come
home to work on your budding online empire?

What motivates you to keep going when it some-
times seems that all is lost?

What motivates you when your family and friends
don't understand and question what you're doing?

It's not money or free time. Think about it.
-What do you want/need the money for?
-What are you going to do with your free time?

Let me add this:
Yes, you really can do it!

What motivated me to quit my job and work on my business full-time? What else, insanity!

I know for me, it's what I really enjoy doing. I like doing marketing activities, talking about business, helping people with business, learning about business, etc. I just really enjoy it.

I'm sure I would have lost my motivation a long time ago, if I wasn't sure that the road to true financial freedom is through owning your own business. Or at least that's the road that I care to travel.

Great question!

* a desire to see the prosperity of my children in their own unique
personal development

* being my own boss

* deciding how to use the time I have

* enjoying people

* working with a computer

What motivates me? A couple of things (similar to Kennon):

* Desire to be my own boss. Don't get me wrong - my boss(es) are quite nice where I work. But to be honest I would rather not have one!

* Feel that I'm in control of my life. With a job, I have to go to work every day, stay there certain hours, do things that I either don't like or feel are pointless, etc. That is less of a problem for a home business.

* Provide for my wife & parents (and perhaps future kids). I want them to be able to have the best. I can't do that with a day job. I will be able to do that in the future with my online business.

* Get out of the living paycheck to paycheck life, and be totally debt free.

* Be able to spend some time doing things I want (eg: programming - and not things that I have to do to try and sell).

Those are the main things.

Cheers,
Jason

I had found myself in too many jobs that I didn't care for and
promised myself that I would never get stuck in such a job
again. That meant that when I decided to go into business
for myself, it was do or die. I announced to family and friends
that I was going to run my own business from home so they
were all watching me. That was great motivation too.

I'm also motivated by offer people genuine assistance. When
I hear from someone whom I knew when they first started out,
and they tell me they are doing very well, that's very satisfying.

Similar to Willie in that I get a huge thrill out of teaching others.

But also I guess for me it's just the challenge. To just be
able to do it.

I love it.
It's never boring
There is always something new to learn
It's exhilarating
It's addictive

I don't know maybe it's the thrill of the chase.

I'm now fortunate this is full time for me but when I had my other
job I used to wonder why some of the mega rich guys in my
country continued to work.

They have millions of dollars so why continue working?

I think I now understand it.

A friend asked me the other day what I would do if I had
millions of dollars. After thinking about it - I told him I'd keep
working on my internet business.

So what motivates me?

I've found something I truly enjoy doing. (That's not to say
it doesn't have its moments)

All the best

Great responses...doing business with people like you all motivates me.

I've never been happy with the traditional "9 to 5". There was always someone somewhere limiting my advancement potential, both professionally and personally. If you are working for someone and a boss doesn't like you, guess what? One person its all it takes to keep you down.

I started developing my own business because of the challenge, the greater chance of financial freedom, and most of all because of the feeling I get when someone asks me what I do, I can tell them "I own my own business". That shows guts and desire - most people told me that I'd be working 80 hours a week if I started my own business, and my reply was simply "Yes, I know." I'd rather put in 80 hours a week developing MY business and business relationships than 40 hours a week building someone else's.

Make '04 the year you do it if you haven't. I've been piddling around for the past year or so, and this year I'm getting down to work. One of the reasons I joined this forum is becuase motivation is a two-way street - we can all keep each other motivated by way of this forum. Am I going to succeed instantly? I doubt it...but I know if I get discouraged, everyone here would make sure I got back on the ball...and I would do the same for anyone else.:fro:
