I
was wondering who here has used Start Page Exchanges and
what you think about using audio on pages you place inside of
these services.

Hi
Ken,
I have used them in the past but don't use them on many of
my sites any more. I do think that if you are going to use
them that audio would be a nice touch... audio that starts
automatically to grab them and pull them in.
I have so many other things running "behind the scene" in
many of my sites that start page exchanges were pushed aside
for more profitable tools.

By the way, here's a tool I am using to automatically swap links
with bloggers and interested sites. It is already bringing me a
few hits and I only have it places on my sites where it doesn't
distract from other more important messages. It increases my
link popularity though since many search engines follow the links
to the various sites in the system. It's at:

I used to use them several years ago, and that's actually where my
first affiliate sales came from. I noticed it becoming less responsive
over time - this could also have been due to people being more frugal
with their money as the economy changed.
I think you need sheer quantity if you want to make sales from start
page exchanges since the traffic is not generally targeted and often
the page isn't paid much attention to.
And regarding audio - I guess if the audio started automatically it
would get people's attention, but I feel that's over aggressive marketing
- when your speakers suddenly start blasting something out I find
it quite off putting. Perhaps just offer them a Play button they can
press?

Hi
Louis,
I know that people also invented ways to cheat with start
page systems, embedding several different start pages
within a page somehow, or running scripts that caused a
page to load repeatedly. So many of the credits that you
earned were wasted.
People are put off by audio that starts automatically...
especially if they are surfing the net at work and hope
none of their co-workers notice. The reason I suggested
starting the audio automatically is because people tend to
ignore pop-up pages and pages they didn't specifically
request anyway??? Hearing the audio would buy you a
few more seconds. That is aggressive as you pointed out.

Yes, the automatic audio is exactly what I was asking about. It
seems to me it is more effective in an environment such as this.
On the contrary, if people were coming to my site through a
search on the search engines, I definitely wouldn't start an audio
autmatically on the page.
Willie hit it right on in my thinking... grab people's attention in
an
environment where attention usually is hard to get with all the
same kinds of information being put out in these part of the net.
