A
very quick question...
If you aren't able to get a .com for any reason, would you prefer
to get the .net equivalent or the .biz?
I'm leaning towards the .biz since I feel that's more memorable and
appropriate for a business website. Not 100% sure though.
I'm also considering getting another .com instead perhaps, but the
name I currently have in mind is very memorable and appropriate.

Louis,
The only reason I can think that you might want to get .net over
.biz is the fact that .net has been around longer. Usually, though,
in my thought process, .biz would be more desirable since .net
has been so much associated with ISPs.
Also, in my opinion, more reputable and more recognizable names
for a business website would have a .biz over a .net ...
You could just get both and then ASK users of the site which they
think is better. That way you let the market drive your decision.

Thanks for this Kennon.
One reason I'm really mulling this over is because I'm going to brand
this domain, so I've got to make it as easy to remember as possible.
I want people to quickly and easily remember it when they're sitting
in front of the computer, so they can just type it in without really
thinking.
For this reason I've also deliberately chosen a pretty short name
- hence the difficulty in getting the .com equivalent.

The
problem you may run into is that people will automatically assume
.com for your domain name, and forget that its .biz or .net. Then
get confused when the page that loads isn't the one they were expecting.
Heck, I do it all the time when I forget to tack ".au" onto
Australian sites that I'm visiting (and haven't bookmaked). :)
Just a random thought.
Cheers,
Jason

That's a danger too. I've checked the .com that I want but at the
moment it just appears to redirect to a big shopping portal.
It's tricky finding really memorable .com's these days. Without paying
the earth to buy one off someone else. ;)
