Lissa
I just was browsing on Ebay when I came across 99 minutes to Internet Success being offered for 20 bucks.

I thought that it was made very clear that we were not supposed to be offering this product on Ebay or any Membership site?

If I knew that no one would care. I would have offered this product on Ebay myself.

To recap the stipulations that came with the product when I purchased it:

=> This product MUST NOT be offered in a membership site.
=> This product MUST NOT be offered as a bonus.
=> This product MUST be the main product in any offer.
=> This product MUST NOT be given away free.
=> This product MUST NOT be sold on any auction site.
=> Bonuses MAY be added to this product offer if you sell it.
=> The recommended retail price for this PDF is $37.
=> Only this PDF may be passed on - NOT the videos.

This person obviously can't read or simply does not give a rat's a** about rules.

:mad2:

I would like to know what is going to be done about this. I figure if he is allowed to continue selling this product on Ebay then I can sell it on Ebay and include it on a Membership site if I want to.

After all. No one is going to do anything about it.

To see the auction for yourself. Here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2985225101

I am proudly displying this product on my own site:

http://www.pubsuccess.com

Scroll down a little and you'll see it.

I followed the rules. Why others don't I'll never understand.

Regards.
Really pissed.

Hi Lissa,

It sure is hard keeping track of all the people
who resell digital products.

It's important that people who see someone
circumventing the stipulations outlined for
reselling contact the owner immmediately
(Louis in this case).

Also, feel free to contact eBay and the offending
person's webhost. It's best to warn the person
first to give them the opportunity to pull the
auction or re-read the rules and follow them.

It's nice to see people like you who actually
read and follow the rules. It says a lot about
your character.

"No one is going to do anything about it."

You just did... :D

Hello Lissa

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

However, in this case that person isn't breaking any rights rules.

The reason is because that auction is for "99 Minutes To Internet Success - Volume 3".

The rights you listed ONLY apply to "99 Minutes To Internet Success" Volumes 5 & 6.

The rights for Volumes 1 through to 4 are different. Their main points are:

They MAY be sold on eBay, or even on CD if you wish.

They MAY ONLY be sold by current members of ReprintRightsEveryMonth.com (http://www.ReprintRightsEveryMonth.com)

"99 Minutes To Internet Success" Volumes 1 through to 4 are some of our best sellers, so we've chosen to keep them pretty exclusive by only allowing current members of the site to sell them.

Sincerely,
Louis

Hi Yoon Ho Um,
Hi Louis,

Okay I feel kinda dumb now. I just saw 99 Minutes being offered
on Ebay and I wen't nuts.

I didn't know that you could sell 1 to 4 on Ebay and not 5 and 6.
I have ver 5. So all I know about is version 5.
Kinda figured the same rules applied to all.

Please accept my apology.

Regards,
Really Cool

Hi Lissa

I am sure Louis would totally agree with me here when I say that there is no need to apologise.

You honestly thought that this gent at ebay was breaking the rules and brought it to the attention of Louis ... and rightly so.

There are far too many people nowadays (not in this instance though) who are more than happy to break the 'rules' and sell ebooks at ebay for ridiculously low sums.

Indeed, you can often find ebooks there that aren't even available with resell rights but that doesn't stop people from trying to make a quick buck.

We need more people like you who are prepared to speak out and bring incidents to the author/creator's attention. At least then they can approach ebay and the scoundrel concerned and get the auction stopped ... hopefully.

I am exactly like you when I see ebooks being sold for pennies when I am a reseller of the same ebooks .. I get very easily PISSED off :mad2: :blueblink

Any way ... enough ramblings. Let's all keep our beady eyes open at the auctions and pounce when we see someone grabbing the money from our back pockets eh?

Cheers for now

I am a prospective new member, and the above comments have confused me.

I looked at the website ReprintRightsEveryMonth.com, and I only see Volumes 1 - 4, plus some other materials listed. Where are Volumes 5 and 6?

Louis' comments seem to suggest that only current members and not new members are allowed to resell Vol 1 - 4.

Also, I do not see the specific rights described by Louis and Lissa given anywhere on that website. Surely I do not have to join and pay up BEFORE I can read these detailed reights??

Could somebody please clarify all this? Thank you.

Yeah, I can understand how it could be confusing :)

Any member of RREM (current or ones who join now) are allowed to sell Vol 1-4. If you stop being a member, then you are no longer allowed to sell the books.

Vol 5 and 6 come with master resell rights for everyone who buys the book, so you don't have to remain a member to be allowed to sell them (and everyone who buys them from you is also allowed to sell them).

Vol 5 and 6 were only available for free to members if you were a member when the books cames out - January for vol 5, and February for vol 6. They've now been removed from the site, although you can obviously buy them separately and sell them to others if you want.

I *think* most (all?) new books will be the same - current members get them for free to sell, and they will only be available to members in the month they were released.

As for where you can find the info about each product, it says it right on the sales letter.

Under each of the 99 Minutes products (in the what you get section) it says "The right to sell the product for as long as you are a member of the site (the 99 Minutes products sell very successfully)". All the others mention master reprint rights (ie: anyone who buys the book off you can also resell it).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jason

Thanks Jason, that helped a lot!

On your last point above, I did see "The right to sell the product for as long as you are a member of the site". But I was referring mostly to Lissa's comment:

=> This product MUST NOT be offered in a membership site.
=> This product MUST NOT be offered as a bonus.
=> This product MUST be the main product in any offer.
=> This product MUST NOT be given away free.
=> This product MUST NOT be sold on any auction site.
=> Bonuses MAY be added to this product offer if you sell it.
=> The recommended retail price for this PDF is $37.
=> Only this PDF may be passed on - NOT the videos.

I suppose those details are spelled out on whatever other website Volumes 5 and 6 are being offered for sale. By the way, where do I find them?

Anyway, I now know enough to go ahead and sign up!

Thank again!

Hi Gary,

Glad my post helped!

Ah, the nitty gritty details like that are in the actual books. All the vol 5 and 6 sales letters say is that you get master reprint rights.

(In general most - but not all - resell rights licenses are like that. You don't find out the nitty gritty details of the license until you buy the book, and look inside to see if there are any catches. Perhaps not the best thing, and I'm certainly not saying this is the way it should be. Just the way it is in this case.)

As for getting them... well, I have them for sale - LOL :) But there are links to purchase the books within the RREM membership site (on the news page), and it would be best if you got them from there.

Hope you enjoy the membership site. There's a heap of information in there - even if you don't sell hundreds of books, the information *IN* the books invaluable (so make sure you read/listen/watch everything).

Cheers,
Jason
