Hello
I was wondering if from personal experience with them, anyone here
could perhaps recommend a CD duplication company based in the US?
I currently have one in the UK, but for a number of reasons it would
be useful to have a back up one based in the US.
I've tried to contact a number of them, but only one gave a satisfactory
reply.
In my experience, it seems a somewhat strange industry in that they
seem almost reluctant to deal with new customers!
Anyway - as mentioned so far I've found one I'm pretty happy with
in the US since they've been very responsive, however if you have
a CD duplication service you've been happily using for a while and
are happy to share with me, that'll be really helpful too!
What I'm after is a company that I can put several master CD's "on
file" with (including CD artwork), and then order short run duplication
from them from time to time. Anything from 10 CD's to 100 CD's at
a time. Online ordering would be a bonus.
They must be comfortable dealing with international customers and
shipping worldwide too.
Thank you very much for any suggestions!
Sincerely,
Louis

Louis,
who have you found in the US so far? This is something I'm interested
in exploring in the near future.
Cheers,

Hi
Jason
For most of my duplication, I'll be using these people in the UK:
http://www.amstore.co.uk
They're responsive, helpful, their prices are good, and they're fairly
local to me.
Plus, they're expanding into offering manual duplication/binding too,
so both CD's and paper products can be duplicated from one single
source - which makes organization easier.
Plus they also offer an inventory storage and drop shipping option,
which may be a useful service in the future to perhaps take a more
hands off approach to the product storage and delivery side of things.
I don't know if they'll send you their free sample pack, but that's
one of the reasons I chose them - they actually do what they said
they will (I received it in two days), and then they actively followed
me up.
What they also did is send me a "C-Shell" case. I wasn't
sure what it was, but had been recommended it for delivering CD's
since it looks good and is very sturdy. It's also very affordable.
So they very kindly sent me a C-Shell case free of charge so I could
see what it was. I'll now be choosing that case for delivering CD's.
It doesn't cost them much, but sending me free samples and following
me up is more than any other duplication company I contacted. So they've
got my business.
Regarding the US company - same problem with lack of response from
most.
However, this company was very responsive, helpful, and gave me a
professional quote for my needs within a couple of days.
I'll be using the UK company for 90% of my stuff, but for various
reasons I wanted a US backup.
The company is:
http://www.totalmediainc.com
It depends on the quantity of course, but for around 100 CD's it got
down to around $3 per CD.
Some important details I've learnt about this:
CD Replication is when you're dealing with large numbers of CD's.
Here they create a "glass master" for you and actually print
(I think that's correct) the CD's.
There's a fairly large set up fee for this with any company, but then
per CD it's much cheaper, and potentially less chance of any defects.
For that you're looking to at least 500 CD's - more often 1,000+
CD Duplication is basically anything up to 500 (or up to 1,000 depending
on the company).
I've no plans to store thousands of CD's myself so I'm just looking
for CD duplication - that's where you give them a master and they
then duplicate it onto blank CD's in their machine.
The more you ask for, the cheaper it gets, but it's never going to
get as cheap (per CD) compared to replication.
Different companies offer different ways of managing the artwork:
You generally can have a paper label with your artwork stuck onto
the CD, or artwork printed directly onto the CD.
Often the more colors you want the more expensive it gets, and they
expect you to design your own artwork unless you pay them for that
too.

Louis

Hi
Guys,
I have used this company:
http://www.diskcopyllc.com
and while searcing for their site I found:
http://www.diskcopy.com
The first one is very close to me.

Actually,
I should probably mention a company that's common in software/shareware
circles.
http://www.swiftcd.com
They do replicate CDs, but their main USP is that they will create
& ship your CDs on demand for you (although there prices aren't
cheap if you do that, as you can probably imagine, since you're doing
a print run of 1).
Some third party payment processors can automatically talk to them,
so the CD is shipped out automatically when someone orders from you
(but the payment processors supported aren't very well known in the
Internet marketing area - they're more common in the software/shareware
area).
Cheers,
Jason

Hi George
If you don't mind sharing - how did you find their service and prices?

Hi Jason
Thanks for this. That's a really interesting resource, and the prices
are good too.
I did look into "Print On Demand" services in the past but
found the majority very expensive, especially since many seemed to
insist on using UPS/FedEx for shipping which added a lot to the cost
per item. Especially for international customers.
However, that company has very reasonable prices and seems to have
some very big name customers too which is a good sign.
Sincerely,
Louis

I
actually started using them before the net... I found them in the
local phone book. That was about 12 years ago.
They have done a little work for me since then and the prices seem
fair to me.
In my last call to them they were very responsive.
And as I said they are close to me so I can actually go there if I
needed to.
Take care,
George
